This year’s PLDC fair in Berlin at the end of October gave Vossloh-Schwabe another opportunity to present its uniquely complete and impressive range of top-quality products for the lighting industry. The numerous new contacts made with representatives from the fields of architecture and light planning as well as a fruitful exchange of project ideas made our trade fair presentation a big success. As a competent and innovative partner in the field of energy-efficient lighting, the VS team also provided expert guidance on how to implement projects in line with EU directives.

Lighting installations in industry may amount up to 20 % of their expenses for electrical power, and even up to 30 % in tertiary sectors. However, by using a combination of modern light bulbs and illumination systems as well as demand-oriented control technologies the electrical power and thus expenses for illumination can be reduced up to 50 %.

On February 4, 2009, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Düsseldorf, will suggest opportunities for optimized illuminations revealing technical approaches for modernization.
This event will be realized in cooperation with EnergieAgentur.NRW and Berliner Energieagentur.

Dirk Pophanken, General Manager of VS Optoelectronic, will take up the subject of energy-efficient illumination of Vossloh-Schwabe and thus point up how the company is considerably preserving the environment and at the same time reducing expenses. In the course of the event in Düsseldorf VS Optoelectronic will be officially appointed as a GreenLight Partner.

On April 23, 2009, throughout Germany the so-called Girls´ Day will take place for the ninth time. The Girls`Day  will enable girls as from the 5th form to investigate into technical and natural scientific jobs.

The Girls´Day provides an insight into technical and natural scientific jobs. Although they offer an important scope to their future, these jobs still appear to be uninviting to girls and only a few of them consider a technical job to be the job they require.

This year again VS Optoelectronic will reopen its´ door to interested girls for information about technical jobs and the LED future technology.

The GreenLight-Programme is used to improve the power efficiency of the illumination of private and public organizations and companies. The participants commit themselves to modernize illumination whereever energy savings justify the investment and integrate efficient, easily available illumination systems into new buildings.

The target of this programme is to reduce energy consumption of outdoor lighting and internal illumination of commercial and public companies within Europe. This is an essential contribution to achieve the aim of the European community for lowering the CO2-emissions.
